Out & About
There may be a lot of exciting things to do on the doorstep of Studio Hart, but some of our guests enjoy getting out and about and exploring the outskirts and surrounding areas of Edinburgh.
From parks, gardens, zoos and cinemas, there's much more to see.
We have highlighted some popular places to visit which are easily accessible by taxi or public transport. The tram and bus service is a great way to get around Edinburgh but it is very easy to grab a taxi via Uber or a private taxi company.

Edinburgh Zoo
A short drive from Studio Hart, we highly recommend visiting Edinburgh Zoo. It is an unforgettable day out for all ages with over 1,000 rare and endangered animals. The Zoo is set in 82-acres within the suburbs of Edinburgh. The Zoo receives over 600,000 visitors a year, which makes it Scotland’s second most popular paid-for tourist attraction, after Edinburgh Castle.

Rosslyn Chapel was founded in 1446 as a place of worship and services continue to be held here weekly. The Chapel has also been a popular destination for visitors for generations. By the late 18th-century, it was starting to appear on itineraries and its profile greatly increased after the publication of Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code, in 2003, and the subsequent film. Rosslyn Chapel Trust was established in 1995 to care for the Chapel and oversee its conservation and public access.

There are daily keeper talks, lemur feeds, animal encounters, a large outdoor play and picnic area, and the new Leaping Lemurs Soft Play, Five Sisters Zoo is a great day out for everyone all year round!

Glenkinchie Distillery
For those of age, with a love or interest in whisky, there is no better day out than a trip to where they create Edinburgh's only single malt whisky. Follow the malted barley's journey through the distillery and various unique processes until it becomes a single malt whisky maturing in a cask for years. Don't forget the most important bit of the tour, the tasting at the end!
